EMDR Trauma-Based Therapy
In addition to my general psychotherapy practice, I have a subspecialty in working with people who have PTSD, and have experience in performing eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) , an evidence-based and integrative technique that is used to facilitate recovery from trauma. EMDR assists individuals process through past trauma by reducing the effects of distressing memories, facilitating emotional, cognitive, and physical changes that stimulate the decrease of tension and increase the feeling of calmness, and develop healthy coping mechanisms. By reducing distress from one’s past and strengthening new coping skills, maladaptive patterns are either significantly reduced or resolved altogether.
